The point of why do we dream?

A lot of different theories explaining why do people dream and where does these dreams coming from. I would like to just point out few understanding about dreams and maybe presenting explanations (science based) about dreaming. I'd like just to clarify first that "dream" or "dreaming" that I'll be referring to is the thing we always experience when we sleep. Obviously, this is different from what we called "day dreaming".

I am sure all of us experience dreams, some of the dreams we had are vividly understood by ourselves and may be because of that we tend to appreciate it and happy about it. But most of them are vague and crack that somehow made us wonder or may be understand it as illogical one, why do we dream like that?

Do you know Sigmund Freud? He studied about dreams and dream interpretation. According to him that our dreams protect us from disturbing thoughts and memories by repressing them. Frued, as psychoanalyst, that we, including our dreams are almost entirely driven by our unconscious sexual desire. As he would say that we dream because of our secret outlet of our repressed desires, this personally I agree. He also mentioned from his studies about the ID, EGO and SUPEREGO. Now here are some of the theories and understandings why do we dream.

1. We dream because of random impulses from our brain stem, this might coming from the things we experience in the environment.

2. We dream to organize the brain, organizing new and old information as physically gathered by us.

3. We dream to solve problems.

4. We dreams to cope traumas or any other certain concerns or situations in life.

As some scientist would say that dreaming is a from of thinking during sleep. As Freud has mentioned that we dream because of some psychological problems and anxieties. But science doesn't give us right knowledge about it. When we dream, what makes it meaningful is when we remember all about our dream and tend to interpret it from our inner self, that's a dream recall as we say!
